Malala Fund announced Metin Çorabatır as the Gulmakai Network Champion.

The Gulmakai Network is an initiative of the Malala Fund to support education advocates who are working in countries where girls face major obstacles in education.
Metin Çorabatır is the founder and president of the Center for Asylum and Migration Research (IGAM). Çorabatır forms a working group in line with the objective of the education of refugee girls and youths, which is envisaged in the Syrian Regional Refugee and Resilience Plan. The plan is coordinated by the United Nations.
Farah Mohamed, CEO of the Malala Fund, says the Fund believes that local educators and activists play a key role in getting girls the education they need and deserve.
Threats to girls' education, such as poverty, war, and gender discrimination, vary across countries and communities. The Malala Fund believes that local education advocates are in the best position to understand the challenges and offer solutions in their communities. However, Malala Fund believes that, despite the determination of local education advocates, local education advocates do not have sufficient resources and support to increase their effects and achieve their goals. The Malala Fund aims to provide social and systematic change by linking the Gulmakai Network Champions to each other, providing them with the tools, training and partners they need do not have sufficient resources and support to increase their impact and achieve their goals. Our champions work in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Nigeria, India and Turkey and Lebanon which are the host countries for Syrian refugees.
