YOUNG REFUGEES MEET LITERATURE AND MUSIC ON WORLD REFUGEE DAY
Young refugees came together in Ankara within the scope of the “Art for the Social Integration of Young Refugees project which is conducted by the Center for Asylum and Migration Research (IGAM) within the framework of“ World Refugee Day ”.
UNHCR Deputy Representative Paolo Artini , President of IGAM Metin Çorabatır, Head of EU Turkey Delegation Christian Berger and President of Ravdanur Foundation Ravda Nur Cuma took part in night which was held in Presidential Symphony Orchestra Hall(CSO)
Head of EU Turkey Delegation Christian Berger stated in his opening speech “The World Refugee Day is a day dedicated to the strength, courage and determination of millions of people who have had to flee their homes.
President of IGAM Metin Çorabatır:
“Walls are built around borders all over the world. Children are separated from their families and boats are prevented from entering safe ports.
UNHCR Deputy Representative Paolo Artini also made a speech in the night. He underlined the need for solidarity with refugees and communities to adopt them more than ever, underlining that it is a global and common responsibility to meet this need.
President of Ravdanur Foundation Ravda Nur Cuma stated that she and her family were displaced 7 years ago due to the civil war in their country and said, “I wasn’t born as a refugee and this war in my country is not my fault. I walked into the mysterious tent camp in Turkey with fear."
